Seattle Dog Parks

posted on: August 13, 2010

We are so lucky to live here in the Seattle area where we have such amazing off-leash dog parks.  As a Seattle dog walker, I feel incredibly blessed to have the ability to use these parks for my business.  I typically use Marymoor (my favorite!) and Magnuson.  Marymoor dog park is often referred to as “doggie Disneyland.” and it’s so true!  The doggies know when we’re going as soon as I drive onto 520… they start turning in circles and making yiping noises.  It tickles me to see this.  I especially appreciate the fact that Seattle Parks Dept has been firm in keeping Marymoor a natural environment.

Magnuson is also a wonderful park with it’s beautiful trails and beach access.  The dogs are in heaven at the beach swimming, playing, and fetching in the water.  And, when my doggie friends are happy,  I’m happy as their dog walker.

It’s a good time to think about helping Seattle off-leash parks to be maintained.  Unfortunately, there are massive budget cuts and less and less upkeep for the land by the Parks Dept.  If you would like to give back by making financial contributions, you can do so by contacting:  www.soda.org (for Marymoor) or www.magnusondogwalkers.com (for Magnuson).  You can also help by attending one of the many work parties and help physically maintain the off-leash areas.

Thank you and enjoy the rest of our beautiful summer weather!
